I have not seen any mention of the actual name of Philip Williams' father as " James ". I have Sam William's articles, in book form, and still do not find it. My 4th. great grandfather, James Williams, who at times made his mark under the name James Williams 2nd., might not have been a " junior ". From what I understand, the scanty evidence points toward a John Williams as being the father of Philip, James, Hardin, and the others. Please let me hear from you.John Cookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16830706025463017712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4684836892356755567.post-10006388034409059062019-05-15T05:26:25.244-07:002019-05-15T05:26:25.244-07:00I am a proven 4th. great grandson of James William... I am a proven 4th. great grandson of James Williams, who often made his mark under the signature " James Williams 2nd. ". At first, I assumed that his father was also named James Williams, but it turns out that this might not be true. Also, in reference to Jarret, ( in its various spellings ) Williams, it seems to me, that there were probably two; one an uncle of my 4th. great grandfather, and the other a brother of 4th. great grandfather. There is a passage in a book, source not given, which reports the deaths of " Jarot Williams and Alexander Hardin ", I believe in 1781, by Indians. I guess that, perhaps, either because of friendship, or a blood connection, that James' brother Hardin Williams was named after said Hardin. I will try to track down the actual record of the above deaths.John Cookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16830706025463017712noreply@blogger.com
