- You, Sean Collins Wright and Joseph Newman like this.
- Scott Preston Collins You must still be drinking heavily Justin. Have you been harassing others like you did me to do your genealogy for you?
- Scott Preston Collins The only people that are being poked fun at are the people that have released and promoted false and misleading information along with outright lies. Paul Heinegg, Virginia DeMarce, Jack Goins, Roberta Estes, and Wayne Winkler are among the biggest scam artists out there trying to cover-up Native ancestry. They want to convince people that none of us have Native ancestry, but are instead only just African Americans when no evidence is there to prove their statements. They go even further by broadcasting their lies on National Public Radio (NPR) releasing to the world wide press via AP, Reuters and a litany of other linked popular news outlets announcing their flawed, unscientific "DNA Project"; results which we know have been cherry picked and skewed. We descendents are tired of the lies and tired of these people getting their little rewards and popularizing myths and falsehoods about our ancestors. This is something that Plecker and Eugenics boards did and is all a part of genocide. When the consequences of their actions is denial of our rights as Indian people under treaties, the denial of recognition by the Federal and State Government directly because of their lies, then I say lampooning them is merit worthy. They have turned themselves into celebrities and politicians.
- Justin Loray Smith i never asked you to do my genealogy for me. what i did say, right before you removed me, was show me some PROOF of a saponi connection, which you obviously could not do. all you do is piss and moan and complain and label people. u have not contributed ANYTHING to the Melungeon research! just nonsense and name-calling. no thanks dude.
- Scott Preston Collins I've shown in several forums alot of proof. You kept calling me and harrassing me on the phone drunk cause you don't want to believe the historical record and because you don't know your own genealogy. I removed you from my pages because you kept causing disturbances and trying to pass around lies.
- Loretta Haynes I think the point that Scott is trying to make that Estes and Goins intentionally left out known Melungeons with Native American Ancestry out of their small and selective 'research'. When you do research like that it is biased and flawed. It is the similar to the ethnic picking and choosing of Pleckar. Justin have you read and studied their research? I know of people that had known Melungeon connections that were denied to be part of the Estes/Goins pet project... What that says to me is they intentionally did this to get the very result they wanted, not the result that was indeed the truth.
- Kim Nichols Thanks Loretta. I'm just trying to learn, I didn't mean to start a riot. So, what's the advantage to leaving out Native DNA? Does it have to do with money entitled to these tribes? What's their angle?
- Scott Preston Collins That is indeed the point. It goes further though because all the supposed "experts" that are passing lies and erroneous "research" have a huge impact on tribal recognition processes as well giving ammunition to wannabee hunters to use against us.
- Scott Preston Collins Isn't it odd that all these folks are marketing experts and radio station owners. It is in their own best interest to create a mystery or some exotic heritage and tie it into the African American popularity and money base. Our people have said who we are all along. We are mixed blood Indians and that hasn't changed every since the outsiders have been asking.
- Kim Nichols I live up in seattle but I'd love to make a pilgrimage down there. Apparently the family town of Goin, TN is 10 feet underwater thanks to the TVA. Maybe I'll bring a snorkel.
- Joseph Newman Who is this Justin guy? I think if a person types in Melungeon...you'll find Scott going all the way back into the late 1990's online. I think all the REAL Melungeon researchers back Scott also. I have never in my life heard of this Justin guy and I've spent over 15 years in this stuff lol
- Joseph Newman Justin, why would you call Jack and Roberta REAL researchers? I think the media called them "non academics", Jack and Roberta has lost EVERY public debate, Their research was fully debunked like 3 days after they released it, Roberta claimed she was a Scientist but she is no scientist, and I can go on and on.
- Joseph Newman Justin, I also see you have ALOT of Mexico groups added, you have Grundy Virginia added, Pike county, Ky added, etc etc but I do not see Hancock county, Tenn added You do not have any of the main Melungeon people added to your friend list, you have no one from Newman's ridge added either....
- Joseph Newman Now justin if you want to see what a REAL researcher is...and since you mentioned Melungeons and Saponi...I'll direct you right to Professor Robert K Thomas....http://works.bepress.com/robert_thomas/24/
Cherokee Communities of the South was written by Mr. Thomas in the mid-70's. It includes a hand drawn map at the end and appears to be a result of some of Mr. Thomas' survey work in the southeastern United States during the summer of 1978 (?). It was submitted to the Consortium of American Indian Ti... - Joseph Newman How good of a researcher was he?.... well there is books dedicated directly to him by today's leading Native American researchers....This next link is directly from the Journal of American Indian Education (The Journal of American Indian Education (JAIE) is a professional journal that publishes papers directly related to the education of American Indian/Alaska Natives.) http://jaie.asu.edu/v37/V37S2book.htm
- Scott Preston Collins Don't forget the letter Robert K. Thomas wrote specifically talking about the Collins family being Saponi. I've posted that letter in several places which is a proof document according to BIA standards.
- Joseph Newman Here is another link, from UCLA's (I'm sure you heard of that school) American Indian studies center http://www.books.aisc.ucla.edu/toc/goodcherokee.html
- Joseph Newman Here is a picture of Robert K Thomas at University of British Columbia in Canada. This was during the Canadian Indian Youth Council http://www.bitahnii.com/Historical%20Documents/Indian%20Education/CIYC/Canadian%20Indian%20Youth%20Council%201967%20Photo.htm
- Justin Loray Smith a lying maniac lol. I never called you once on the phone. I questioned your and other Saponi claims and you deleted me. pure and simple.
- Scott Preston Collins You called me several times on the phone drunk. I deleted you because you kept harassing me and others.
- Joseph Newman Here you see Charles Cambridge PH.D (Born April 22, 1946 in Farmington, New Mexico Member of the Navaho Tribe, Enrolled at Shiprock Agency BIA Census Number: 201,171) backing Robert K Thomas http://www.bitahnii.com/Historical%20Documents/People/Charles%20Cambridge%20People.htm
- Justin Loray Smith Anyone can go on this and other pages and see how you MOCK people and taunt them. Your own words condemn you, Scott Preston Collins . YOU are the one who harrasses
- Joseph Newman Justin, you was just given Saponi connections to the Melungeon by a REAL researcher who actually has over 50 years in native studies expericne, taught at the college level native studies, a enrolled member of a Federal tribe, owner of numerous college degrees in research classes, etc etc..... so what you have to say now? Care to put jack and Roberta's resume up to Robert K Thomas'?
- Joseph Newman I donot see any colleges useing jack and roberta in their curriculum, however they do use Robert K Thomas in their college curriculums.
- Justin Loray Smith Red herrings that have nothing to do with the veracity or falsity of the Estes study.....
- Justin Loray Smith a "Federal Cherokee"? which tribe is that? lol I never heard of the Federal Cherokee tribe
- Scott Preston Collins I defend myself and my family against the haters and racists trying to say things that are lies. Anytime I stand up for myself ya'll try and make out like I'm the bad guy when it is clear to everyone that ya'll are the evil ones.
- Joseph Newman Roberta got debunked quite heavily. Roberta has zero schooling in genetics, geneology, etc etc.
- Dwight Collins Justin..you've helped a lot of folks on some other pages a lot..swe looked at a bunch of Collins too..I remember..lol.., and I know you do your research..so do we..talke a look at Joanne's review..then I will post Robert K. Thomas.

- Dwight Collins Well..one ore by Joanne then Robert K..
The evidence is overwhelming the Melungeons were Indians. Period. Whether those Indians had mixed with Spanish, French, German, English, Portuguese or African, the fact remains, they were Indians.

- Justin Loray Smith how about we quit talking about stuff that has nothing to do with the topic at hand, the veracity of the Estes report. I think Mr. Scott Preston Collins wants to be INDIAN and/or SAPONI sooooo bad that any evidence to the contrary will be ignored and mocked. just accept it Scott, youre a white boy!
- Dwight Collins Let me start at the beginning , with the Saponi Indians.
The Saponi were an advanced tribe who originally lived on the Roanoke River about where it crosses over into North Carolina from Virginia. In the late 1660’s, they moved

- Justin Loray Smith showing up at the arts and crafts indian fair doesnt make one a melungeon. I have dark skin so that makes me a mexican? lol. take a look at your own facebook photos white boy lol
- Joseph Newman "there is fairly good evidence that Collins is a Saponi family name." professor Robert K Thomas
- Justin Loray Smith and Joseph Newman is the expert on Justin Loray Smith now what a joke. bye idiots
- Dwight Collins if everybody's finished with the pissing contest..I just posted some facts..if these are irrelevant...what can I say.....
- Justin Loray Smith Joseph Newman is too busy ranting and stalking to pay attention to anything... he has a personal vendetta now just like his gay lover Scott Preston Collins lol
- Loretta Haynes Justin you clearly love to name call, yet you say nothing of substance to back up your empty words. If you have knowledge, share it. Give your resources. If you are here only to start arguments and fights we will be happy to ignore you. I am here to learn as are most of us. If you do not agree then state specifically why without attacking another's posting. Your insults are belittling only yourself!
- Scott Preston Collins Justin Inbred Whitebread don't know who he is. Take another pill or drink or what ever your smoking cause it isn't working good enough.
- Justin Loray Smith lol im trying to figure out what the hell the floral shop u mentioned has to do with anything at all?
- Scott Preston Collins Attacking gay people just shows how in the closet you must be Mr. Pillowbiter. That's to be expected from a Mormon. You sure got a cussing mouth for a Mormon. Are you still sleep deprived you moron?
- Scott Preston Collins Not to my knowledge. They always attack us real descendents. Then they whine when we stand up for ourselves.
- Justin Loray Smith still waiting for you to come enlighten me with your superior fighting skills, oh wise and mysterious jedi master
- Justin Loray Smith go to lot 43 if not already there, and wait for Scott Preston Collins to come pack your fudge again lol

- You and Sean Collins Wright like this.
- Sean Collins Wright hey Dwight I recognize some of those pictures and Paul Hemorrhoid sure is a Borg....LOLOLOL hahaha

How to win an award for covering up real history and heritage; just make something up, use perhaps and possibly liberally and be sure to link everything back to Africans as the origin. That seems to be the recipe for the N.C. and VA hysterical societies.
- Sean Collins Wright Even National Geographic inadvertently debunked the Out of Africa Theory. If life originated in east Africa wouldn't everyone have some east African DNA? They were able to find Neanderthal, but no African.
- Justin Loray Smith Scott Preston Collins is an insane, obsessed wannabe indian. looks like a white boy to me. DNA doesnt lie dude
- Justin Loray Smith your words are self-evident. your vitriolic hatred for REAL Melungeon researchers betrays your absolute INSANITY
- Scott Preston Collins Your the insane one believing in fairy tales. If you want to delude yourself you have every right to continue to do so.
- Dwight Collins Justin..you should get to know Scott and read some of his articles before you go attacking him...Scott's been keepin' the faith for years..As far as Hennigg..hardly has anyone so besmirched ans attacked our heritage as he has..Plecker and his ilk would be proud on Hennigg...
- Dwight Collins as for Goins and Estes..Winkler and the others..JOGG = JOKE!!. except it's not funny!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Sean Collins Wright, Bill Cook Sr. and Loretta Haynes like this.
- Justin Loray Smith do you have anything to REFUTE the DNA, as in your own DNA study, Scott Preston Collins ? If not, STFU
- Sean Collins Wright I can't speak for Scott, but I have conducted my own DNA studies; y-dna, mtdna ,autosomal. Much of it is in it's infancy so to speak, especially y-dna. Haplogroups are changing at least on a monthly basis. To get a clear concise origin theory could take years. Personally, I have nothing against Estes,Goins and Heinegg; they have a right to their own theories and their own research. Just as I have a right to dispute some of their claims as it pertains to my own family...which it doesn't.
- Justin Goins and 3 others like this.
- Denise Stapleton Copus hmm... haven't seen a lot of that here, I have seen most vicious attacks in other forums though. be careful where you tread
- Sean Collins Wright This is one of the forums where attacks are seldom. One I was on was a History site and I was attacked by neo-Nazis. Luckily, I am friends with the administrator and he made me one as well. We kicked their goose-stepping butts to the curb
- Joseph Newman I think only people I seen attacked here was Jack Goins (a non melungeon) and Roberta Estes (a non melungeon), both of who publically attacked melungeons in the media.
- Joseph Newman I also have seen Paul Heinegg (a non melungeon) attacked..but yet again a person who has publically attacked melungeons in the media.
- Joseph Newman So I guess we could say only people attacked here is people who have attacked, slandered, and harrassed Melungeon people in the media.
- Laree Lee Well Wayne Winkler does have Bunch ancestors. Did Jack Goin's YDNA ever help him with the adoption that happened in his line what was it 3 great grandfathers back? That's the mystery I would be working on.
- Joseph Newman Yeah but here is what the Newman's ridge bunch family came back as, Samuel Bunch, b. ca. 1814, d. June 2, 1865, Sneedville, Tenn R1b1a2a1a1b4
- Joseph Newman So makes no sense why Wayne would say his melungeon line was the Bunch family, yet tell newspaper "It's sometimes embarrassing to see the lengths your ancestors went to hide their African heritage, but look at the consequences" said Wayne Winkler, past president of the Melungeon Heritage Association. "They suffered anyway because of the suspicion."
- Laree Lee Wow I didn't know that. I thought all the Newman Ridge Bunch participants came back Eb1. that's interesting and they were living on the ridge.
- Joseph Newman There was only 1 bunch family from newman's ridge tested....the other bunches was from places outside of tennessee.
- Joseph Newman Look at all the E haplo group bunches...they was not on newman's ridge or even in Tennessee. http://www.familytreedna.com/public/coremelungeon/default.aspx?section=yresults
For genealogy within the most recent fifteen generations, STR markers help define paternal lineages. - Joseph Newman now who is your indian ancestors....how are you documented to indians.....can you enroll in any tribe?
- Joseph Newman you mean the one when you did not have a ID...... the one without id says indian...but the one where they used your actual government issue id....it white LOL
- Joseph Newman nope, my stuff is public. So all you can do is make insults...and have nothing to back up any of it huh?
- Joseph Newman still can't back up anything you say huh? so you have zero indian ancestors, you have no melungeon ancestors, your government records says you are white, you can not enroll in any tribe....can not even enroll in a state or non state tribe.......your DNA came back as European and nothing else.... yet your calling other people racist terms and making anti gay comments to the people who can back up what they say.

Joanne Pezzullo 7:15am Jul 8 Ms Crain didn't see attacks that were made on her own Rootsweb list. Her excuse was "I was feeding the goats" or I've been so busy sewing" -- yep they just slid on by her. The attacks made by Curtis Christy against myself and Scott on HER list last year meant nothing -- he was defending HER WORK ...oh yeah, and even when Curtis himself agreed he should be unsubbed, he still continued to post and attack. I use to admire Janet until she started drinking the kool aid.Comment HistorySean Collins Wright 6:48am Jul 8 and I suppose Ms Crain failed to see the hate remarks which were quite graphic in nature that were posted by the troll that was on earlier.Joanne Pezzullo 5:30am Jul 8 If you stop to think about it - Melungeon is just a made up word- coined to describe people who were Indian, Portuguese, black and white, and probably a lot of other brown people who came to these shores early. The word was NOT exclusive to Newmans Ridge and these people are identified throughout history as Indians.Valerie Starr Neeley 5:21am Jul 8 So just wat am I?Valerie Starr Neeley 5:20am Jul 8 This is exactly why I never comment on these pages. While I may be related directly to the Collins, Gibson, Gipson, Green, lines on one side and have family coming from Scott County on the other, not to mention my father being born in the Carmel settlement school. I have been warned and told I am not Melungeon.Joanne Pezzullo 4:58am Jul 8 Just want to add that what I think Janet Crain means is you should not publicly assassinate someone's character but it is ok if you do it in private emails. What she means by 'attacks' is no one is allowed to challenge her or her cronies jaded research. If you want to publicly humiliate someone create a fake name .. eh Janet?
